Some in the industry believe the “pink craze” has long passed, but it’s clear many consumers are still purchasing pink products. Evidence: Streamlight’s donation of $107,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) during October. To date, the company has donated nearly $336,000 to BCRF from sales proceeds of its pink flashlight products, designed to raise awareness for the disease.
“Breast cancer affects millions of women and their families, and Streamlight is proud to continue doing our part to help raise money for a cure,” said Loring Grove, Streamlight’s global brand manager and a breast cancer survivor.
The company donates $5 from each sale of its Pink Strion LED tactical light and $1 from sales of pink versions of its Nano Light and 2AA ProPolymer flashlights.
The American Cancer Society estimates that 226,870 women were diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in 2012, while 39,510 were expected to die from the disease. Men also are affected, with 2,190 men projected to be diagnosed and 410 estimated to die from the disease last year.
Breast cancer is a disease that touches many of our friends and families in the industry. Companies that offer pink products in support of BCRF, and dealers who are carrying pink products like Streamlight’s Pink Strion LED tactical light, show customers that the industry cares.
